Åbergs Museum

Åbergs Museum, founded by Lasse Åberg, is located in Bålsta, just outside Stockholm, and is a destination for the whole family. The museum, which opened to the public in 2002, is housed in a stylish old 19th-century barn. It features a fantastic collection of comic-inspired art and original comics, one of the world's foremost antique Disney collections, and an exhibition with props, photos, and costumes from the films about the awkward nerd Stig-Helmer. The museum is suitable for children of all ages and offers play opportunities both indoors and outdoors, including an art treasure hunt, a quiz in the art gallery, and the popular Trazan-kojan. Outside, there's the 'Banankontakt' playground, inspired by Trazan and Banarne. Picnic tables are available for packed lunches. The museum also hosts children's birthday parties with fika and play in Trazankojan. The museum also showcases comic-inspired art by famous artists, mainly in the 'pop-art' genre, such as Pablo Picasso, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol. The collection of antique Disney items is one of the foremost in the world, featuring many items like watches, dolls, porcelain, and tin toys from 1928-1940. It also houses the world's only and smallest Stig-Helmer museum, displaying props, photos, and clothes from the seven feature films starring Stig-Helmer Olsson. The museum is easily accessible by car or commuter train from Stockholm.
