Best times to visit
Parklek is usually open weekdays 10am–5pm, with extended hours and weekend opening in spring and summer. Mornings tend to be quietest at both playgrounds and parklek — perfect for the youngest children. Farm parks have their own seasonal hours — always check before visiting.
What to bring
Parklek provides toys and equipment. Still bring a change of clothes (especially in spring), water and sun protection on sunny days. At farm parks, boots or clothes that can handle a bit of animal smell are a good idea.
Combine a few places in one day
A playground in the morning and a farm park or parklek in the afternoon makes a great full day out — many of these places are close to each other within the same district.

What's the difference between a playground, parklek and a farm park?
A playground (lekpark) is a regular play area — often bigger and themed, worth a trip on its own. Parklek is a staffed outdoor play concept run by the City of Stockholm — free, no booking, with staff organising activities. Farm parks (4H-gårdar) are small farms with animals kids can pet and feed, often combined with nature and play areas.
Are playgrounds and parklek free in Stockholm?
Almost all of them. Of the 67 places we list, 63 are completely free — a handful of farm parks may charge a small fee for animal feed or activities.
