Kungliga slottet
Welcome to one of Europe's largest and most vibrant castles. The castle is H.M. The King's official residence, and essential parts of the monarchy's representation take place here, while large parts of the castle are open year-round. The castle is the workplace for the Royal Couple and the offices that are part of the Royal Court. The Royal Palace is a combination of royal residence, workplace, and cultural-historical monument, and is open to visitors year-round. The castle was built in baroque style by architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger and designed as a Roman palace. The castle has more than 600 rooms spread over eleven floors, with the state rooms facing the city and the smaller living quarters towards the inner courtyard. The castle houses many attractions – the Treasury with the royal regalia, Museum Tre Kronor about the castle's medieval history, and not least the State Apartments with the grand state rooms. There is also Gustav III's Antiquities Museum and the Royal Chapel. The Changing of the Guard is popular among visitors, as is the shop Slottsboden.
