Östasiatiska Museet
The East Asian Museum on Skeppsholmen is temporarily closed for renovation and updating of the museum's public environments. The museum is planned to reopen in the fall of 2026. The National Property Board is replacing an elevator in the building, and in connection with this, necessary updates to exhibitions and visitor areas are being made. This work means that parts of the collections have been moved and protected. The museum is therefore closed to the public during this period, with the exception of conference activities. During the closure, the East Asian Museum continues its activities through collaborations, programs at other locations, and digital initiatives. The museum plans to reopen in the fall of 2026 with two new exhibitions. At the World Culture Museums – the Mediterranean Museum and the East Asian Museum – you can discover ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and the Far East in the heart of Stockholm. With collections ranging from mummies to ancient Egyptian shoes and coffins, along with incredible archives and expeditions, these museums will inspire you in ways you may not have imagined.
