Stadsbiblioteket
The City Library is soon to be a hundred years old, and the building is in great need of renovation. The focus of the renovation is technical upgrading and development of operations. The renovation will be carried out with great consideration for the building's high cultural and architectural values. During the upgrade, the building is closed. We plan to reopen for visitors in early 2028. At that time, the public areas inside the library will have been enhanced, with extra focus on children and youth. With reuse in focus, well-planned, expanded, and adapted spaces will enable even more activities. We place great importance on the equal value of children and that no one should be discriminated against, based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. To preserve the building's cultural historical values, fixed furnishings, carpentry, and art will be protected and restored. The newly renovated library will be more relevant than ever.
