Pygméteatern

Since 1976, Pygmteatern has been working with puppet theater. We were pioneers in modern shadow theater in Sweden! We mostly tell stories for children. About horrors and wonders, and about the difficulties of growing up as a human. Sometimes poetically, sometimes drastically, but always with warmth and often with humor. Our form language has developed and refined into a unique style - a combination of pure acting roles, puppets, shadows, masks, and music. Together with the clever scenography, lighting, and music, this becomes professional children's theater of a class that has been loved by children all over the world and has won numerous awards at international festivals. In 2006, we participated in a large festival in New Delhi and Jaipur in India with the performance The Red Thread, and also held workshops in shadow theater with Indian orphanage children. When we are not performing at our own theater at Odenplan in Stockholm, we tour all over Sweden, Norway, and Finland. In 2006, we collaborated with Dramaten, In the Shadow of Hamlet, directed by Agneta Ehrensvärd. In 2007, we collaborated with Teater Tribunalen in Pasolini's "Orgia", directed by Henrik Dahl. Pygmteatern has two artistic leaders: the founders Sten Wallin and Michael Koitzsch. Additionally, workshop leader Dragan Popovic and actors see Nelson and David Mjönes. Marketing manager and tour producer is Sonia de Vreeze. Pygmteatern is supported by the Swedish Arts Council, Stockholm City, and Region Stockholm.
